Planning a Trip (Part I)

You may know that I am going to Chicago this summer, and I'm already planning! It's the second trip that I organize and I think I'm getting good at it (my friends also help a lot).

I decided to resume how to quickly plan a budget trip!

First, you have to choose your type of trip. (weekend, road trip, week...)
Then choose your destination(s).

Now you can start to research on the city (or cities) you are going to visit. I always try to find blogs from locals, they know better than anybody else where to go (not only the touristic places) and what to do (and where to eat for the foodies like me). Get to know what are the things you can't miss!

Now you have to establish your budget. How much you wanna spend? Of course some places are more expensive than others, for example, New Orleans is cheaper than Chicago. It can depend on the time of the year.

Choose your departure date!

Your transportation is also an important choice that can blow your budget. I try to use public transportation or walk because it is cheaper and it makes you discover so much more. Of course if you are planning a road trip or you are going to little places where there is no public transportation you need to have a car because cabs are expensive.

Then, you need to choose your hotel. If you have a car, you should consider hotels that are further because they usually are near half the price of the ones downtown. I prefer to put budget on a nice hotel even if it's not the cheapest one, but I know people that don't care where they are sleeping as long as there is a bed. You know yourself, be sure to make a decision you won't regret! On my past experience, there is always a way to find a nice hotel that's cheap. I use a website that compares all hotels by price, distance, stars and even by services! (www.hotels.com) Plus, try to find an hotel with continental breakfast, because a week of three time a day restaurants is really expensive!

 Yummy!

You now know, when you are leaving, where, what to do, where to stay, what's your transportation and how much you want to spend.

It was easy, right?

The Part II is coming soon lovelies.
